Our day began with a rare behind the scenes tour of the iconic Hublot Manufacture, upon an invitation from M. Jean-Claude Biver himself. We walked in fans of the brand and left in awe of the technical detail to attention paid on each piece. We especially appreciated learning about the new material created by Hublot - Magic Gold - 75% gold and 25% ceramic which forms a much harder wearing material great for everyday use. Special merci to Mlle. Marie Simo for setting up our tour, and our guide, M. Chinh Doan - a wealth of knowledge and experience in the watchmaking industry.
Then, it was back to Vieille Ville to meet David Chaumet, Brand Director of Roger Dubuis in his elegant boutique. We were once-again amazed by the workmanship of this brand, while also creating a very modern aesthetic. Can I say that this is my favorite brand as well (along with all the others)? ;-) There, we were treated to a hands-on review of their collection. Roger Dubuis is the only manufacture to bear the Poinçon de Genève on their entire range.
Next up in our whirlwind watch experience was hands-down the hippest brand, MB&F. With an invitation from Owner & Creative Director, Maximilian Busser himself, we met with Mr. Charris Yadigaroglou, who was such a fun host. We chilled together in his ultra-hip M.A.D Gallery that had more of a SoHo-NYC vibe than Old Town Geneva. A taste of home! We were enthralled by all of their "Machines", from those worn on the wrist to other inventive works of art.
And to finish up our week, perhaps the pinnacle for "watch geeks" like us: A guided tour (with press passes) at the Patek Phillippe Museum. There were essentially two tours:
